My Most Important Beliefs
Some of my most important beliefs are my beliefs about beliefs. I believe that beliefs are tools, not truth. I believe that Truth can never be fully known by our minds, and that if we choose to wield and cherish our beliefs as tools while maintaining our openness to new ones, our perspective will change radically and repeatedly through the course of our lives. That said, beliefs are indispensable to this life, and I believe it is an extremely valuable (if rarely undertaken) exercise to determine which planks we will use to build the rest of our lives and perceptions upon. Here are the twelve concepts I most believe in at this time, and the "twelve laws of love" associated with each. Please note that I use "Love" as a spiritual term, and "love" as an emotional one. To me, love is a primary gateway to Love, and Love encompasses love.
I Believe In...
Spirit. I believe that every person's essence is infinite Love.
Mystery. I believe that words and beliefs cannot encompass Love.
Love. I believe that love is more important, and more real, than beliefs.
Truth. I believe that no one is all right or all wrong.
Compassion. I believe that our capacity for pain equals our capacity for love.
Purpose. I believe that we are born in love, and learn to fear and judge. I believe that our greatest purpose is our journey back to Love.
Growth. I believe that to do so requires choosing Love in the midst of pain, fear, judgment, and attachment.
Evolution. I believe that evolution is Love-in-action.
Causality. I believe that fear begets fear, and love begets love.
Acceptance. I believe that everyone is doing the best they know how.
Choice. I believe that everyone has the choice to learn how to do better.
Beauty. I believe that from the perspective of Spirit, everything is a beautiful and perfect manifestation of Love.
In addition to using these beliefs as the foundation for my map of the world, I also rely heavily on my life guidelines.
